All my teachers have shaped my blueprint as a yoga teacher, and I want to especially thank Prajnia Vieira who is an incredible inspiration to my personal practice. She has grounded my yoga ego thru her teachings of my Ashtanga practice. With patience, foundational work and a consistent practice, all will come. She also taught me the essence of “playing with the edge” which opened my heart to explore the possibilities on and off my mat.
Linda McGrath, whom I have completed my 200-hour teaching certification with at YogaSource Los Gatos. She challenged me to broaden my horizons and transformed my thinking and appreciation for other styles of yoga. She encouraged me to find softness in strength and made me fall back in love with the freedom of creative sequencing.
Yoga does not always mean pushing ourselves deeper into postures. While the physical practice challenges our ability to stay present, it also makes us look deeply into ourselves – to see what drives us and what holds us back. We spend most of our busy lives going through the motions, but if we learn to slow down and observe, every moment is an opportunity for change, whatever it be might at this time of your life – that is a huge part of the practice for me.
My aim is to help my students discover their yoga spirit while teaching body awareness and movements. I am here to serve as a guide to your practice. Your practice is your teacher that will help you grow from the inside out. No even the best yoga guru out there can teach you and make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul that will teach what you are capable of. My role is to help facilitate the process with kind intelligence – being safe, preventing injuries while having fun on the mat. Hopefully, along the way, we will together learn to shed our expectations and experience the transformation through our own personal practice.
Xo, Alice
